  • Up-date on my friend, and then some

Brandon passed away less than two hours after I posted about his condition. His young wife is hurting beyond anything I could ever even begin to imagine. Please pray for her. I'm am deeply concerned. The rest of his family is handling the situation much better, though they are all hurting.

    Other news:

One of our lovely neighbors called the fire chief on us for grilling on our patio. Ryan is going to court and hoping to get out of paying a fine of $500-$7,000. I have sworn never to call the authorities on someone without warning the person first unless it is an emergency. I am beyond peeved.

We are CLOSING on a HOUSE in 13 DAYS! SOOOO EXCITED!!

I've worked the last 6 out of 7 days and have 3 more days of work to go before I get a day off... which will be a total of working 9 out of 10 days. I'm INSANE. But having fun. And not all of the shifts have been 12 hours.

I guess that's about all for now!

  • Please Pray

I just received word that a friend of mine has 5 days to live.

What I know: Brandon went into the hospital. He had a blood clot. Went to surgery. They discovered he has a flesh eating disease. He's been given a 10% chance to live and five days.

He's 23. He's a newly wed. I grew up with Brandon. I don't remember a time without him. We went to church together... His wife graduated the year after we did and also went to our high school. I'm in shock.

Please, please pray for him and his wife and family. They need your prayers.

    23... newly wed...

I want to be in Jasper.

  • Much Needed Update

Being married is absolutely the best thing ever! Ryan and I have so much fun just doing everyday things together. It's kinda ridiculous.

I have two jobs. I'm now not only working at Good Shepherd, but also at the Behavioral Hospital of Longview. I wasn't sure how the new job would be, but I've found that I really like the patient interaction. The whole point of being a nurse in a psych hospital is to talk with patients. Well, actually to get your patients to talk to you. That's easy for me, I like to listen to people!

Other than that, our puppy is getting so big! She's nearly outgrown her jacket. Good thing petco had a sale and we picked up a new one and a sweater! I never thought I'd be putting clothes on a dog, but she gets so cold. Her favorite place to be is in our jackets under our arm pits... reminds me of a friend telling me to put my hands in my arm pits when they were cold..

Life is much more busy with the new job. I'm now a "normal" person working about five days a week instead of just three. It's crazy how quickly things can change.

Oh! We also started going to another church. We're now at Hope Fellowship with some of our friends. The mingling with more people our age and more newly-wed couples has been a huge blessing! I'm singing on the praise team too! It's nice to be at a church where I can actually be a part of things and not feel like I'm just warming a bench on Sunday mornings. I do miss the people I know at Crossroads... and the Tuesday night Bible Studies... but I think Hope fellowship is a better fit for us at this time in our life.

    In summary: Life is good.

  • "Christ must increase...

    as I must decrease" - John 3:30

What does this look like? Once again this little verse that says so much is slapping me in the face and weighing on my mind. Have I fallen into complacency yet again? I'm afraid I might have. I can quote scriptures left and right but not because I'm reading on a daily basis. God has given me a gift of a memory that can be quite frustrating at times. I was in "Bible Drill" as a kid and know where to find alot of passages and memorized over 150 verses that I can still quote to this day. And I'm fine with that. I'm not longing to find more. this is sad.

  • "Good Morning"

    - Harry A. Scheibe

"Harry died Monday, September 29, 2008 at Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital. A native of Jacksonville, Florida, he had lived in Jasper since 1972. He was the owner and operator of Shy-Bee Electric in Jasper. He was a Korean veteran serving the U. S. Army." - www.kjas.com

Brother Harry, as I know him, is a man of great integrity. He and his wife, Dot, are two people who contributed greatly to my becoming a Christian and growing in my faith. I remember every Sunday morning giving Bro. Harry a hug and a handshake. As I would bring my hand away I would always end up with a piece of candy. He was sure to pack his pockets with enough hard candy for every kid in the church each Sunday. He greeted every person who walked through the doors of the church with a smile, "good morning" (no matter the time of day), and a piece of encouragement.

I realized today as I sat in the pew at his funeral just how much he meant to me. I've always loved Bro Harry and smiled from ear to ear whenever our paths crossed. Listening to the many memories people share of our dear friend, it was brought to my attention just how much he reminds me of my grandfather. I now realize he filled much of the emptiness in me that was left behind when my grandfather joined the Lord in heaven.

I will always miss Bro. Harry. I can't wait to meet him on the other side.
